We hate to see time going so damn fast, it but July is really over (what a shame, August's book was great, eh?). Our novel "everyone read the same novel" idea turned out to be great. we are on to a new novel for the month of august: To the Lighthouse, by Virginia Woolf. novel.

This is her second most famous book (after Mrs. Dalloway) and the most autobiographcial of all her works (which says a lot; she was fascinating). To the Lighthouse is, by reputation, intriguing and also short (unlike last month's selection, which was 2435785436728990 pages long, but also intriguing). it is said to present Virginia Woolf's characteristic stream-of-consciousness style in its purest form; the substance is drawn from comment on character and their struggles with existence rather than focus on plot (which we could all use a good dose of, eh?). May we and our feeble minds struggle through it and come out better people for understanding just a bit of woolf's brillaint insight, which has sparked the publication of 9267835454267389 books analyzing it.

to the lighthouse is available at the foriegn languages bookstore on fuzhou lu on the first floor in that stack of cheap books on the first floor for 20 rmb, or in a more attractive edition on the fourth floor for more rmb. don't ask my why this happens.
